"At first glance, as long as you're at least 100 meters away and see them from the back on a dark Winters night, The Floods look like an ordinary family. But when you are right next to them and see them from the front on a sunny Summers day, The Floods definitely don't look like an ordinary family. The Floods, a family of nine, including the parents: Nerlin and Mordonna, Valla,a 22 year old boy, Satanella, a 16 year old girl, Merlinmary, a 15 year old that the gender is unknown, Winchflat, a 14 year old boy, Morbid and Silent, 11 year old twin boys, and Betty, a 10 year old human daughter, live next to horrible neighbours. The neighbours are lazy and dirty and the Floods hate them. The next door neighbours should have known better than to annoy a family of witches and wizards! But they did, and they are about to find out what the Floods do to bad neighbours."
I liked the book because it was really funny and I loved the detailed pictures. I liked the personalities of the characters - Colin Thompson made just about everything in the book funny. Finally I liked all the 'trouble' that the neighbours get up to.
My favourite part was the ending because everything turned out as it should - in a rather funny way.
I would recommend this book to Year 6 and up because it is humourous but the younger children may not understand some of the humour. I rate it 8 out of 10.
